Flamengrass is born from the mixture of bluegrass and flamenco, both based on traditional roots music. The project was born from the hand of Lluís Gómez, an internationally renowned banjoplayer and author of several banjo books for Mel Bay, Carol Durán, violinist and singer of bands such as La Carrau, Sabor de Gràcia, Les Violines and toured several times with las Migas among others, Maribel Rivero, double bass and voice, a well known musician, has accompanied to artists such as Tony Trischka, Bill Keith, Scott Law among others and Roger Lozano, guitar.

Lluís Gómez-banjo | Carol Duran-vocals and violin | Maribel Rivero-vocals and double bass | Roger Lozano-guitar

Lluís Gómez has assembled four master musicians, steeped in Spanish and Catalan culture, to help him bring his own traditional musical heritage to his bluegrass inspired banjo playing. The result is sometimes joyful, sometimes soulful, always delightful - and beautifully Spanish.

This is a magnificent album and a powerful statement. Four masters of their instruments, all steeped in their regional and national culture, have completely bought in to Lluís's vision and produced an album that is sometimes joyous, sometimes soulful, always delightful - and beautifully Spanish.

I love how Spanish banjo Picker Lluís Gómez incorporates his contemporary 3-finger seamlessly into this Flamenco-tinged material, on his latest recording.
